What makes a Douglas cuddle toy
Douglas designs its animals in New Hampshire, and they are known for faces and markings that follow the real animal rather than a cartoon. Some models have a leatherette nose and bean-weighted paws, so they sit or lie the way a real animal does.

Douglas’s own web shop delivers within the United States. ESSA UK is an independent UK shop: we hold genuine Douglas® stock here, so there is no import checkout and no customs bill on arrival. Most product pages show the Douglas item number, so you can check it against Douglas’s own catalogue.

Douglas Cuddle Toys – questions
Are these genuine Douglas Cuddle Toys?
Yes. Every item on this page is a Douglas® product, held in our UK stock.
Does Douglas ship to the UK?
Douglas’s own web shop delivers within the United States. In the UK you buy Douglas from independent shops; ESSA UK holds the stock here and sends it by Royal Mail.
Is ESSA UK part of Douglas?
No. ESSA UK is an independent UK retailer and is not affiliated with Douglas. Douglas® is the maker’s trademark; we sell genuine Douglas products.
Can I wash a Douglas cuddle toy?
It depends on the model: some are machine washable, many larger ones are surface wash only. Most product pages give Douglas’s own care instruction – see our Douglas care guide.
Dressing up your Douglas? ESSA Gear – harnesses, vests and collars sized for plush – is ESSA UK’s own range, not a Douglas product.
Many customers keep a Douglas as an ESSA – an Emotional Support Stuffed Animal, a community word for a plush you find comforting. Any plush can be one; it is not a medical product. What is an ESSA?
