About ESSA UK
ESSA UK is a UK online shop that sells genuine Douglas® plush dogs and animals from stock held in England, with next-working-day dispatch and tracked Royal Mail delivery. This page is the short, factual version of who we are, for customers and for anyone checking us out before they order.

ESSA UK is the trading name of Mentor Technology Limited, a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 12899244 (incorporated 23 September 2020, status active). VAT registration number GB 521 3328 30. The company record is public on the Companies House register; search by the company number rather than the trading name. essauk.com is operated only by Mentor Technology Limited. We are not connected to any other business trading under a similar name, and no other company sells on our behalf.

Both addresses belong to Mentor Technology Limited: the Coventry address is the registered office held on Companies House, and the Royal Leamington Spa unit is where we trade and handle returns.
What we sell
Genuine Douglas® Cuddle Toys plush, made by Douglas Cuddle Toys of Keene, New Hampshire, a family-owned business since 1956. Douglas does not sell direct to UK customers, so we import and hold UK stock: around 100 breed-specific plush dogs, plus cats, wolves, foxes, farm and wildlife animals. Every product page shows the model name, size in centimetres, Douglas's own item number (Chase the Border Collie is no. 2001, for example), the age grading and the care instruction. We also sell ESSA Gear, our own range of harnesses, vests, collars and accessories made to fit the plush.
What "ESSA" means
ESSA stands for "Emotional Support Stuffed Animal". It is a community term that TikTok and Reddit users adopted for a realistic plush dog they carry or keep with them; it is not a certification, a registration or a medical product. Any plush can be someone's ESSA. We use the word as a category name, and we do not make health or therapeutic claims about our products. Our what is an ESSA dog guide explains the term in full.
Safety and care
Douglas plush is CE marked on the sewn label and graded by the maker for ages 24 months and up. Care varies by model: the popular 16″ dogs such as Chase, Bella and Sasha are surface wash only; many smaller models are machine washable. The care instruction appears on each product page. Douglas plush is made for people and is not intended as a toy for pets.
Delivery, returns and payment
- Orders are dispatched the next working day from our Leamington Spa unit.
- UK delivery is free on orders over £20, by Royal Mail Tracked 48; most orders arrive 2–4 working days after dispatch.
- 14-day returns to our UK address. Full terms are in our Return & Refund Policy.
- Payment is taken through Shopify's secure checkout: card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna.
